To help cushion the effect of the proactive and preventive stay – at – home order against COVID – 19 by the Delta State Government, Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta state on Primary Healthcare, Honourable ( Dr.) Alphonsus Ojo, has commenced the distribution of food items, protective materials, hand sanitizers and cash to residents of Ukwuani local government area of Delta State.
Ojo said the gesture, targeted mostly at the vulnerable within the local government area, was to further encourage people to stay at home as directed by government to curtail the spread of the corona virus.
The former representative of the Ukwuani constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly assured that the distribution would not be politicised, as he would personally supervise the exercise to ensure that only those who could hardly feed themselves this trying period benefitted.
He commended the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for the steps so far taken to prevent the corona virus from entering the state and urged public spirited individuals, government officials and organisations to assist the economically weak in the state to overcome the effect of the lockdown.
Ojo, a medical practitioner, encouraged the people to practice good personal hygiene, wash their hands regularly, use hand sanitizers and practice social distancing in order to stay safe.
