Non Governmental Organisations in Delta state have been urged to collaborate with government in creating awareness on the dreaded corona virus pandemic.
A former member of the Delta State House of Assembly and one time Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Honourable Chinwe Monu – Olarewaju, made the call when her pet project, the Monu Olarewaju Foundation (MOF) visited Elenchele, Amilimocha, Ogbe Hausa, and Power Line to sensitize the people on how to stay safe from the virus.
Olarewaju, who is also a Barrister – at – Law, noted that the Okowa administration had done a lot to prevent the virus from entering the state through efficient and effective sensitization programmes, adding that the Governor had also put in place facilities to manage any emergency that might arise from the pandemic.
She explained that the COVID – 19 challenge was not one to be left for the government alone, saying that it was a matter for everyone in view of its global effect on life and the economy.
The MOF initiator urged the people of the communities visited to abide by the preventive measures announced by government for their safety, including regular hand washing under running water, use of hand sanitizer, social distancing, as well as looking out for and promptly reporting symptoms of fever, cough and respiratory difficulties.
She warned against contact or sharing of household items with the sick or persons with overseas travel history as that was one sure way of contracting the virus.
Olarewaju later distributed soap, hand sanitizers, hand gloves, face masks, and fliers to those sensitized and urged them to put the items to good use for their own good
Some of the beneficiaries thanked the Monu Olarewaju Foundation for the gesture and called on others to emulate the Foundation.
