The member representing the Uvwie constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Solomon Ighrakpata, has warned against false alarm capable of heightening tension among the people over the Corona virus pandemic.
Ighrakpata, who is the Deputy Chief Whip of the House and Chairman House Committee on Special Duties, was reacting to the video that had gone viral on Sunday purporting that a Covid 19 case was somewhere in his constituency.
While refuting the claim, the legislator stated that such a false alarm could only create more fears in the mind of the people.
He expressed happiness that the Central Hospital Warri was able to immediately dispel the false alarm, stressing that some symptoms of Covid 19 were similar to other common illnesses in the society.
Ighrakpata commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the unrelenting efforts at ensuring that Delta State was free of Covid 19, and for the establishment of several holding centers across the state to manage any reported case.
The lawmaker emphasized the need for all critical stakeholders to intensify sensitization and awareness on the dreaded virus and commended the commitments of the Ovie of Uvwie, Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1 and the Chairman, Uvwie local government council, Honourable Ramson Onoyake in that regard.
He charged the people not to flout any government directive on the control of the spread of the deadly virus, just as he expressed optimism that it would soon be a thing of the past.
