DELTA LAWMAKER CHARGES CONSTITUENTS TO OBEY GOVT’S DIRECTIVE ON COVID – 19

The member representing Isoko South 2 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Ferguson Onwo, has charged his constituents to obey the state government’s directives on the prevention of the Corona virus pandemic.


Onwo, who was addressing  newsmen as part of his efforts to sensitize his people on the effects of the deadly disease, urged them to avoid crowded places, maintain social distancing with one another, improve on personal hygienes and adopt frequent use of hand sanitizer and wearing of nose masks and hand gloves.


He stated that government at various levels had issued directives on Covid 19, aimed at checking the spread of the virus and acknowledged the concerted efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa at ensuring that the virus did not spread to Delta state.


Onwo, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Housing and Women Affairs, also advised against unnecessary travels, particularly inter state journeys, stressing that the only way to stay safe from the disease was to remain indoors.


The Isoko South 2 representative said the Covid 19 pandemic was a plaque currently ravaging the world, stressing that though there was no reported case of the virus in Delta State, its presence in Nigeria was a great cause for worry.


The legislator renewed his appealed to the people of Isoko South 2 to abide by the international minimum standards of checking the spread of the virus.


He said shutdown and the setting up of isolation centers were all measures geared towards addressing the spread of the virus and commended the efforts made so far in that regards by the state government.


Onwo expressed optimism that the world would soon overcome the pandemic so that people could return to their normal lives.
