As part of measures to enhance personal hygiene and curb the spread of diseases, including the ravaging corona virus (covid-19), the Warri/Uvwie and Environs Special Area Development Agency (WUEDA) has charged communities and residents of the area to immediately clean up their surroundings.

In a statement issued in Warri, the Director General of the Agency, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, said it had become pertinent for the people to clean up their environment not just to promote a healthy living, but particularly to ensure that anything that could stimulate the spread of the corona virus was avoided.

He noted that due to the seriousness and urgency of the situation at hand, people needed to commence a massive  cleaning exercise and not wait for the usual state monthly environmental sanitation day.

Macaulay said given the devastating effect of the corona virus (covid-19) worldwide and the increasing rate of its spread in Nigeria, all drains in the Warri and Uvwie axis must be opened up, heaps of refuse cleared, markets and office premises thoroughly kept clean in order not to leave anything to chance.   .

The former Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG) reiterated government’s commitment to the integrated development of Warri, Uvwie and Environs through a master drainage project and facelift of the area.

He said the Agency would continue to do its bit in giving the area the desired facelift, but that the people should show some measure of commitment to making things work by playing the roles expected of them without waiting to be told.
