The 28th edition of the Aviara Secondary Commercial School, popularly called AviaGram, annual inter – house sports competition has held at the school’s play ground.
The event attracted eminent personalities, including Old Students of the school, who turned out in their large numbers to identify with their Alma Mata.
In a statement issued at the end of the ceremony, the Secretary General of AviaGram Old Students Association, Mr. Charles Jombo, appreciated God on behalf of the Executive and Members of the Association for a successful outing and thanked members of the group who graced the occasion.
Mr.Jombo said their presence was a demonstration of love and interest in the development of their Alma Mater and thanked the principal, staff and students of the school, as well as all who contributed in various ways to the success of the sports competition.
He said it was gratifying to note that the executive of the association was fully represented, and that the principal, staff and students of the school were highly elated by the presence and contributions of the Old Students body.
The Secretary General noted that, a lot of development had taken place since after the Old Students’ days in school and commended the state government, the Aviara community and the management of the school for their efforts at changing the face of the institution.
Six Houses took part in the sports competition, which featured track and field events, as well as traditional dance and traditional dressing, among other activities.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of 4 trophies, 105 medals, 200 branded (60 leaves) notebooks made by Mrs Evelyn Ekee and a donation made on behalf of the Assocation by Chief Clement Utuedhe.
The sum of N10,000 was also donated to each of the six Houses,(60,000), N10,000 to the sports official who coordinated the ceremony and N20,000 to the school authority.
Ambassador Charles Arugba later hosted members of the Association, and Students of Arugba House who emerged winners in the sports competition at his residence in Aviara, Isoko South Local Area of Delta State.
