For the first time in the political history of Oshimili South Local Government Area, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday returned its Chairman, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, for another term.
Ogbueshi Okonji was returned unopposed through a motion moved by the member representing the Oshimili south Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Shedrack Rapu and seconded by former Speaker of the State Legislature, Honourable Peter Onwusanya.
Somadina Anwasia emerged as the LGA Deputy Chairman of the party, along with 16 others who formed the executive body of the PDP in an election witnessed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agents and pressmen.
Responding shortly after his reelection, Dada Okonji pledged to sustain his policy of inclusive leadership and solicited continued support from party faithful.
In an interview with newsmen, the member representing the area in the State Assembly, Honourable Shedrack Rapu, described the congress as peaceful, just as the Local Government Chairman, Comrade Uche Osadebe, enjoined other local government areas in the state to emulate Oshimili south.
Also, former state chairman of the PDP and Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor and the PDP State Woman Leader, Lady Kanwulia Omoko, expressed optimism of the party reclaiming the presidency in 2023.
