ANAMBRA GOVERNOR’S WIFE SPLASHES GIFTS ON BABY RESCUED FROM BARBED WIRE FENCE

Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano, has presented cash and variety of baby care products to the discarded baby who was rescued from a barbed wire fence at Oko, Orumba north local government area of the state.


The First Lady made the presentation when she visited the baby who was thrown down from a two – storey building by the mother in one of the female hostels at the Federal Polytechnic Oko.


The Governor’s Wife who is the founder of Caring Family Enhancement Initiative (CAFE), said her visit was a follow up to her earlier plea to young and recalcitrant mothers not to discard their new born for any reason, but ensure their safety.


She praised the management of the hospital where the baby was taken to for treatment for ensuring the survival of the baby.


The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, who commended the Governor’s wife for coming to the rescue of the baby girl, harped on her passion for good deeds, noting that the present health insurance structure provided by the government had made both antenatal and prenatal demands easy and accessible for women.


For his part, the member representing Orumba north in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Emeka Aforka, noted that the First Lady’s visit to a hospital in his constituency on the sixth anniversary of the Obiano-led administration was a demonstration of synergy that had made the state a centre of excellence.


Earlier, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Kamtochukwu Obi, thanked the Governor’s wife for the visit and for her support for the baby.
