DELTA PROJECT MONITORING OFFICE SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH MINISTRY OF WORKS IN DELIVERY OF MANDATE

The Delta State Project Monitoring Team  has solicited the cooperation and support of the state Ministry of Works in ensuring the delivery of quality civil engineering works.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Implementation and Evaluation, Honourable Johnson Erijo,  made the call on Tuesday when he led the team on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye.

Honourable Erijo said the Project Monitoring Office had been restructured with the mandate to follow up projects from conception to processes of execution to ensure that specifications were met, adding that the Office had been properly positioned with the necessary testing equipment in various engineering fields.

He disclosed that the State Executive Council had resolved that the Office should strictly monitor all projects across the state to ensure they were delivered according to specifications, and requested the involvement of the Office in site and management meetings as they concerned crucial projects, as well as pre mobilization meetings to enable the Office to meet with new contractors.

The Special Adviser stressed the need for regular interface with Civil Engineering contractors to sensitize them on the roles of the Project Monitoring Office, pointing out that besides making returns of contractual obligations to the Office, it should also be acquainted with contract specifications, drawings, BOQ and payments for proper follow up.

Responding, Works Commissioner, Chief James Augoye, thanked the team for the visit, saying that the mandate of the Office was instructive of the determination of the Okowa administration to ensure the delivery of quality Civil Engineering jobs by his ministry.

Chief Augoye pledged the readiness of his ministry to work with the Project Monitoring team to enable it discharge its responsibilities diligently, efficiently and effectively for the overall good of Deltans.
