Renowned philanthropist, international jurist and former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Ned Nwoko, on Sunday hosted some big names in the entertainment industry in his country home at Idumuje – Ugboko, to commemorate the 73rd birthday anniversary of the doyen of Nollywood, Chief Pete Edochie.
Ned, who said he came to know about the erudite actor some years back in London because of the character he acted in Things Fall Apart, described him as a living legend who had mentored up coming actors to keep the movie industry alive.
The foremost politician said his interaction with Pete revealed that he was not into any sport, pointing out that he needed to engage in sporting activity to remain strong at his age and decided to introduce him to golfing with the presentation of a golf kit as birthday gift.
He said golf was good for anyone above 50 and encouraged Pete Edochie to buy into the game, promising to provide all that was needed for him to be a golfer.
Responding, the Nollywood Superstar, thanked Honourable Ned Nwoko for hosting him, other members of the Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, and some Nollywood actors and actresses, stressing that it meant a lot to him on his birthday.
Pete Edochie commended Ned for his uncommon philanthropy and passion for service which had endeared him to many and thanked him for his interest in moving the movie industry to greater heights,
