Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mordi Ononye and a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health Monitoring, Dr Michael Nwoko, have called for calm amongst members of the public, following the reported case of Corona virus in Lagos, Nigeria.
Dr. Ononye made the call when he visited the Asaba International Airport on Saturday to inspect the clinic set up and properly educate the health team on ground on Corona Virus protocol.
The Commissioner said there was no cause for alarm or panic as every necessary machinery had been put in place to effectively manage the situation.

He added that he was confident in the team of medical experts on ground and that more man power would be added to what was on ground to ensure full and adequate control of any situation.
Dr. Ononye said at the moment there was no established case of Corona virus in Delta State, adding that the only established case was the one reported in Lagos and the situation was under control as all the persons the victim had contact with were being fully quarantined.
For his part, SSA to the Governor on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko stated that they were at the Asaba Airport to ensure that all hands were on deck to check and forestall any emergency, pointing out that an isolation centre was being set up in case of any emergency.

He added that the Delta State Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) on infectious decease had been activated for Corona Virus Disease, to ensure a full medical team was on ground for effective control measures.
Dr. Nwoko said similar steps were also being taken at the Osubi Airport and the Seaport in Warri, confirming that the instruments recently installed at the Asaba Airport had been test run in order to enhance the capacity of the team to conduct preliminary checks on passengers arriving at the airport.
