The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has said the Governor is truly building a Stronger Delta.

Dr. Nwoko, in a chat with newsmen in Asaba on Wednesday, noted that the Governor had put in place the necessary institutions, infrastructure and human capital needed to launch the State into a pedestal with requisite parameters to satisfy the yearnings and aspirations of the people.

The SSA said there had been a massive and unprecedented levels of road construction across the state, thus opening up a lot of rural communities, which were hitherto inaccessible, adding that the roads had helped to link the communities, increased communication and enhanced businesses in the state.

He noted that Asaba, the state capital, was now wearing a new look, while the extensive network of storm drainage channels constructed by the Okowa administration around the city had put to rest the intractable perennial flooding that had become the hallmark of the capital city.

Dr Nwoko further cited the upgrade of the Asaba Airport, the Stephen Keshi Stadium, which had turned Delta State into a cynosure of national and international sporting meets, the state’s functional education policy, which had produced young Deltans with the necessary skills and knowledge to function effectively within the economy and drive the industrialization of the state.

He further stated that the job creation programme of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had become a model in the country, as asserted by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, while his peace building initiatives had helped to stem the tide of restiveness in the state.

On health, Dr Nwoko said the Governor, with his professional background and having realised that health is wealth,  sponsored bills for the National Health Care Act, for the Basic Health Care Provision Funds and National Health Insurance Commission Act, when he served as Senator.

The SSA said as soon as Okowa was sworn in as Governor of Delta State in 2015, he wasted no time in domesticating the health insurance scheme in the state because he believed that the scheme key to achieving a healthy society as enshrined in the Global Universal Health Coverage Policy.

This, he continued, entailed the provision of quality, accessible and affordable healthcare service to the people,
