Iker Casillas, who captained Spain to win Euro 2008, 2012 as well as World Cup 2010 as goalkeeper, has confirmed that he will contest for President of the Spanish Football Federation, against the incumbent, Luis Rubiales,whose tenure expires after Euro 2020.
The 38 year old, who made over 700 appearances for Real Madrid with whom he won five La Liga and three Champions League titles, has won 167 caps for his country.
He joined his current club Porto in 2015, but has not played in any competitive game since May 2019 after suffering a heart attack during a training session with the club.
If Iker Casillas wins the presidency, that will end his successful playing career which spans over 20 years.
