Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has been commended for ensuring peace and stability in the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since he assumed office.

The Chairman of PDP in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, gave the commendation while addressing party faithful at Ward 10 (Cable Point), during a visit of the local government party executives and leaders to the ward at last weekend.

He explained that the Governor’s position had impacted positively on the leadership of the party in the area and guaranteed effective mobilization, unity and harmonious relationship among party members.

Dada Okonji said the party had made enormous achievements under his leadership and would sustain its strategies to do more.

The LGA party chairman commended Governor Okowa for the various appointments and development projects executed in Oshimili South Local Government Area and urged the people to remain committed and supportive of the leadership of the party at the ward, local government and state levels.

Addressing the meeting, the immediate past State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Edwin Uzor, advised against bickering within the party, pointing out that modalities had been worked out to accommodate diverse interests.

Uzor, currently the Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, charged elected representatives to diligently serve the people, rather than forcing themselves on those who elected them.

Ward 10 Chairman, Honourable Martinwest Udensi, said the ward had remained the most united and peaceful in the local government area, adding that they had confidence in Dada Okonji for his purposeful leadership.

The highlight of the visit was a vote of confidence unanimously passed on Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, and a resolution that he be returned for a second term, by the ward, through a motion moved by Honourable Eugene Chukwurah and seconded by Mrs. Clara Ezeugo.
