Herdsmen in camps at Obianyima, Azuowa, Ekwuoma and Oyoko, in Abavo Kingdom, Ika south local government area of Delta state, have been told not to take the hospitality of the Kingdom for granted.
The Obi of Abavo Kingdom, Uche Irenuma 11, who gave the warning while speaking in an exclusive interview with gallantreporters through the President General of Abavo Town Union, Mr Jonathan Agbajiegbe, said the herders must not use their trade to inflict pains on innocent and law abiding locals.
He noted that though normalcy had returned to the Kingdom after last week’s attack by the herdsmen, there had yet to be total freedom, as indigenes were still scared of going to their farms and others engagements for fear of renewed attacks.
Obi Irenuma emphasized that his reign would continue to be peaceful, fair and just to all, including non indigenes, adding that he had urged youths of the Kingdom not to engage in reprisal attack, even in the face of provocation.
The monarch commended the efforts of the state government and security agencies so far at restoring peace and appealed to them to prevail on the herdsmen to respect the territorial integrity of Abavo Kingdom, to guarantee continued peaceful coexistence between the Kingdom and its residents, other than indigenes.
