Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has felicitated with former Secretary to the State Government, Chief Festus Agas, as he turns 60 on Wednesday, January 29.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifejika,, the Governor described Agas, a former Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as an illustrious Deltan ever committed to the development of the state.
He commended the former SSG, who is currently his Chief Strategist, for his outstanding contributions to the socio-economic and political growth of Delta state and Nigeria.
The Governor noted that Agas, a veteran journalist, lawyer and politician, had had a distinguished career in the private and public sectors spanning over 35 years, saying that the period was a life of impact and outstanding accomplishments.
He urged the Chief Strategist to sustain his contributions to humanity by developing further ideas that would lead to efficiency and effectiveness of governance and sustainable development of the state.
Meanwhile, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has expressed sadness over the passing of renowned author, publisher and politician, Dr. George Idodo-Umeh, who died at a hospital in Benin on Monday at the age of 76.
The deceased hailed from Olomoro in Isoko South Local Government Area and was Commissioner for Urban, Rural Integrated Development and Housing, in the defunct Bendel State from1980 to1982 and Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources from 1982 to1983.
Okowa commiserated with the people of Isoko and Olomoro community in particular on the loss and prayed God to grant the soul of the deceased eternal rest.
