The Delta State Waste Management Board led by its chairman, Honourable Emmanuel Chinye, on Monday carried out the verification and inspection of vehicles of Private Sector Participants, PSPs in the Ughelli metropolis.
The exercise, which also involved board members and staff of the Board, was informed by the increased awareness of residents of the area about the Public Private Partnership in waste disposal which had led to many of them keying into the cleaner Delta Agenda by registering with the PSPs.
Addressing the PSPs, Honourable Chinye said It was important that they should have functional operational tipping trucks to be able to effectively serve their clients, stressing that regular evacuation of refuse would give clients value for their money and ensure a cleaner Delta.
Honourable Chinye, joined by the member representing Delta south, Pastor Move Edema and Delta Delta central, Olorogun Daniel Ighedo, later visited the Ughelli and Agbarho dump sites.
The verification/inspection exercise, which had earlier taken place in Asaba, continues on Tuesday (today) in Sapele.
