A network service provider’s outlet on DLA road Asaba was on Wednesday sanctioned for failing to key into the state government’s Private Public Partnership in refuse disposal.
Other corporate clients sanctioned, according to the Director of Legal Services, DSWMB, Barrister Michel Oranyeli, were some Filling Stations on the Asaba – Ibusa road.

The state government is partnering with Private Sector Participants for the collection of waste from residential apartments, offices and business premises in major towns and cities of the state for disposal to government approved dump sites and has made it mandatory for all clients concerned to key into the project.
The Delta State Waste Management Board, which is charged with the responsibility of managing waste across the state, is the supervisory agency of the PPP through the PSPs.

The Chairman of the Board, Mr Emma Chinye, while leading a team on an enforcement of registration to DLA and Akwuofu areas of the state capital, said the Board frowned seriously at resistance or outright refusal by clients to register with the PSPs because it amounted to disrespect to constituted authority and disobedience to the law.
Mr Chinye said the Board was using persuasive approach which was paying off with many clients volunteering to register and wondered why anyone would resist or refuse registration for a project meant to serve the overall interest of the state.

He commended those who had voluntarily visited the Board’s Headquarters in Asaba for registration with the PSPs and urged them to maintain a cordial relationship with the PSPs to ensure a healthier and cleaner environment.
Mr Chinye assured the waste bins would continue to be given to all registered clients free of charge.
