The Ossissa Improvement Union, OIU, has described the victory of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa over his arch rival in the 2019 governorship election, Chief Great Ogboru, at the Supreme Court as victory for equity, fairness and justice among the three senatorial districts of the state.
OIU, in a statement issued by its Interim Committee Chairman, Mr Ken Ebuekwu, said Delta north would have been robbed of its full tenure as producer of the State Governor if Ogboru:s appeal had succeeded.
That, the union noted, would have amounted to a short change and injustice to Delta north and would have generated bad blood between the senatorial district and the other two, Delta central and Delta south.
Ossissa community maintained that the rotational arrangement for the office of the Governor had helped to unite the state, giving all ethnic nationalities a sense of belonging in the governance of the state.
It thanked Deltans for their massive support for the Governor and the court for being on the side of truth, having deemed the appeal to be lacking in merit and a waste of time.
OIU congratulated the Governor and the Peoples Democratic Party on the historic verdict.
