The Chairman, Delta State Waste Management Board, Mr Emmanuel Chinye, who led the enforcement team expressed delight that the Board’s sensitization campaign had started  yielding result.

Mr Chinye said most residents of Akwuebulu were known for dumping refuse on the streets, drains and illegal dump sites, but that the situation was gradually changing with many of them opting to register with the PSPs.

He commended the people and urged other residents violating the registration rule to have a rethink and key into the system to ensure a well coordinated disposal of waste under the Public Private Partnership arrangement.

Mr Chinye said government was giving out the waste bins free of charge as a demonstration of its determination to make the system efficient and to encourage residents to register with the PSPs.

The WMB Chairman stated that the Board would continue to drive the PSP initiative because it had proven to be a veritable solution to the problem of increased waste generation in urban centres of the state.

He renewed his appeal to the PSPs to show greater dedication to their duties and avoid acts that could discourage residents from registering with them.
