Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has expressed optimism that the year 2020 will witness sustainable development as the state government remains irrevocably committed to the actualization of the Stronger Delta vision.

The Governor, who stated this in his New Year Message to the people of the state, urged them to remain united and focused on the cause of developing the state, irrespective of ethnic, religious or political differences.

In the message, contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Olisa Ifejika, Okowa felicitated with Deltans and all Nigerians as they stepped into 2020 and expressed gratitude to God for the grace granted Delta and its citizens in 2019.

While praying for unity, peace and progress in the state, which he noted were the planks of his Stronger Delta vision, he urged the people to remain supportive of government, saying that peace remained the bedrock of meaningful development in any society.

The Governor expressed optimism that 2020 would be a year of fulfillment as the state remained on the right trajectory to sustainable development.

He said given the modest strides in the past five years, with the same level of cooperation from the people of the state, his administration would achieve more in all facets of governance.

Okowa dwelt on the cordial relationship between the executive, the legislature, the judiciary, the civil service, traditional and religious leaders and his team of political appointees, adding that agencies of government, both at the federal and state levels, multilateral donor agencies as well as trust and believe in God were other sources of strength.

The Governor said as one of the first states to sign its 2020 Appropriation Bill into law, government was set to hit the ground running in the New Year.

He urged Deltans to look forward to the new year with the same zeal of a people with the capacity to excel even in difficult situations.
