A grassroots mobilizer and businessman, Chief Ken Ebuekwu, was at the weekend elected to lead a 5 man interim committee of the Ossissa Improvement Union, with the mandate to revive the union for greater impact on the community.
Speaking in an interview after his election, Chief Ebuekwu promised to bring his wealth of experience in leadership to bear in the prosecution of the onerous task.
He said as a grassroots person and former President of the National Association of Ossissa Students, nothing short of success was expected, as he was roundly familiar with the local politics and developmental needs of the Ossissa community.
Chief Ebuekwu maintained that the unity of Ossissa was sacrosanct and everyone in the community must key into the unification drive because that was a sure way of setting the community on the path of progress and accelerated development.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman, who is leading four others on the assignment, assured that only persons of integrity and with the fear of God would be chosen to lead the OIU in order to restore the glory of the union and give the community the desired facelift.
He solicited the cooperation and support of the Onotu Ukwu – in – Council and the entire people of Ossissa to enable the Committee to succeed.
Chief Ebuekwu thanked the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for the appointment of three indigenes of the community into political offices and appealed to the state government to complete the construction of the only access road in Ossissa, restore electricity supply to the community and empower the youth and women in the community.
