Ossissa people, in Ndokwa east local government area of Delta state, on Saturday gathered to brainstorm on how best to achieve accelerated development of the community.

The meeting, which took place at Ossissa secondary school, was convened by an indigene of the community, Dr. Ashiedu Okotume, as mandated by an earlier meeting held at Umueleke – Ossissa in September, 2019.

Dr. Okotume said the General Meeting became imperative because Ossissa needed to make progress as the present situation of things in the community was not encouraging.

The convener thanked sons and daughters of the community who attended the meeting and urged them to approach the burning issues bordering on development with open mindedness in order to achieve set goals.

Dr. Okotume thanked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for appointing three indigenes of Ossissa into political offices and urged the appointees to be good ambassadors of the community.

The President of Ossissa Improvement Union, OIU, Dr. Sunday Chukwudi, had earlier charged all Ossissa people to see the development of the community as a task that must be accomplished and individually and collectively work towards it.

The highlight of the meeting was the dissolution of the National Executive Committee of the Ossissa Improvement Union and the setting up of a 5 man Caretaker Committee to reposition the union and conduct election into the National Executive Committee in three months time.

The Caretaker Committee is headed by Chief Ken Ebuekwu, with Barrister Lawrence Nwachukwu as Secretary, Lucky Chibuogwu as Treasurer, Benedict Odinigwe as PRO and Cletus Odinigwe as member.

In his acceptance speech, Chief Ebuekwu thanked the community for the opportunity given the Caretaker Committee to serve and promised that they would do exactly what was expected of them.
