In the spirit of the festive season, the Chairman, Oshimili south local government area chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, has distributed food items and cash to over 100 women of Umu – Iyibu village, Umuezei quarters, Asaba.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the exercise, Dada Okonji said the gesture was in keeping with a tradition he had put in place over the years to show love to the women for their invaluable roles in the home and political front.

He noted that the women had been forthcoming in the moral upbringing of their children, just as they had proven to be good wives to their husbands, adding that they needed to be remembered this festive period for their contribution to the development of Umu – Iyibu community.

Politically, the Oshimili south PDP Chairman said the women were supportive of the party before and during the 2019 elections, pointing out that the efficacy of their prayers for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and other political leaders had helped to set things right for the LGA and the state at large.

Dada Okonji particularly thanked the women for their support for him as Party Chairman, in line with the saying that charity begins at home, and assured them that he would continue to be a good ambassador of the community.

He prayed God to grant them their heart desires in the New Year.

Responding on behalf of the women, Mrs Josephine Okwudi and Mrs Benedicta Okediachi, thanked the Party Chairman for his generosity, and prayed God to continue to provide for him.

The beneficiaries included the elderly, widows and the less privileged in the community.
