DELTA YOUTHS COMMEND OKOWA FOR CAPACITY BUILDING

Delta State Government has been commended for giving youths in the state the opportunity to build the capacity required for their future leadership role.


The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta state on Youth Development and Director General Delta State Community Youth Association, Honourable Innocent Esewezie, gave the commendation in Asaba when he led a delegation of the youth body on a courtesy visit to the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon.


Honourable Esewezie said the Okowa administration had demonstrated uncommon passion for youth development and empowerment through meaningful engagements, pointing out that over 80 percent of Delta youth had either been given appointments or meaningfully engaged.


The Executive Assistant said the decision of the Governor to give appointment to at least one youth in each of the 270 wards in the state was a great source of inspiration and encouragement to Delta youths, adding that the youth empowerment programmes of government had impacted positively on the youths most of whom had become self reliant.


He said the Community Youth Association under his watch had done a lot to positively change the mindset of Delta youths through sensitisation and advocacy programmes, stressing that youths in the state count now be counted as peaceful and progressive people.


Honourable Esewezie pledged the readiness of the youth body to work with the Office of the Senior Political Adviser towards securing a better deal for the youth, promising that youths would continue to support the state government.


Responding, the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, thanked the Executive Assistant and his team for the visit, which he said would improve relations between his office and the youth association for greater accomplishments.


Honourable Solomon commended the leadership of Delta Community Youth Association for striving to change the orientation of youths for good, noting that Delta youths had become more productive and supportive of the state government.


The Senior POLAD said Governor Okowa had religiously kept to his promise of youth inclusiveness in government through appointment as a way of building their capacity for future leadership role, assuring that government would not only sustain bit expand its youth empowerment programmes.
