A two day health awareness campaign and leadership seminar has ended in Ode-Ugborodo community, Warri SouthWest local government area of Delta State, with a call on the people to imbibe the culture of healthy living.

Executive Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Community Development, Dr Andrew Igban, who made the call at the well attended events organized by a Non Governmental Organization, “Eric Igban Foundation”, in collaboration with Ugborodo Graduates Association, said every health related issue must be of great concern to the people.

The health awareness campaign and leadership seminar were part of a week long activity of the Foundation in memory of Engineer Eric Igban, who died fighting the cause of Ugborodo community.

Dr Igban, Eric’s younger brother and President of the Foundation, said the dream of the pragmatic youth leader for an egalitarian Ugborodo would not die, hence the sustained effort at advancing issues that promote socio-cultural, political and economic growth of the people which he focused on in his life time.

He emphasized that the health awareness campaign was to encourage the people to imbibe healthy living, and commended the enthusiasm shown by the people all through the program.

The health awareness campaign which recorded massive turnout of people even from neighboring communities, featured free medical services provided by a team of medical experts.

On the leadership seminar, the Executive Assistant to the Governor stated that the people must be given direction on the best way to achieve a greater Ugborodo, stressing that both the leaders and followers had their respective roles towards peace and development of the community.

Dr Igban maintained that poor leadership and followership had been the bane of the society, with its attendant set back in development, pointing out that the Eric Igban Foundation had won local and international awards in its quest for a paradigm shift and would continue to create the enabling environment for future generations.

Resource persons and participants at both events commended the Foundation for its commitment to raising the standard of living in Ugborodo, describing the effort as worthy of emulation.
