Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, on Thursday assented to the 2020 Appropriation Bill, with a promise to ensure an efficient and effective budget performance that will translate to accelerated development for the benefit of Deltans.
The Governor signed the bill, which provides for a total expenditure of N395.4bn in the 2020 fiscal year, in Asaba in the presence of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori, who presented it to him, along with Principal Officers of the Assembly.
He said despite the hard times in the country, his administration would do its best to work with the budget to achieve its developmental goals.
Okowa commended members of the legislature for their diligence in ensuring that the bill was speedily considered and passed.
Earlier, Oborevwori said in passing the Appropriation Bill the proposed figure was increased to N395.47 bn from N389.19 bn, with recurrent expenditure at N172.15 bn and capital expenditure, N223.32bn.
