Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Health Monitoring, Dr Michael Nwoko, has said increased enrollees strength in any health facility is a function of the performance of the facility.

Dr. Nwoko stated this at the Government Hospital Owhelogbo, in Isoko North Local Government Area, while addressing the staff of the hospital, at the end of the tour of health facilities in the Council Area.

The SSA, who advised the management and staff of the hospital to live up to their responsibilities as healthcare providers, reminded them of the burning desire of the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to achieve the Universal Health Coverage in the State.

He said the Governor was passionate about the health and general well-being of the people and recalled that as a Senator he midwifed the Basic Health Care Provision Funds Act and also domesticated the laudable Health Insurance Scheme in the state to guarantee affordable, accessible and quality health care for all residents of the state.

The SSA further stated that the Health Monitoring Office was created to monitor, assess, evaluate and appraise all the health facilities in the state and promptly report observed inadequacies to the relevant authorities for prompt action all in a bid to enhance healthcare delivery service to all residents of Delta State.

Dr. Nwoko said the monitoring team had visited a good number of health facilities in the state and observed that the turnout of patients and enrollees in a health facility was dependent on the operations of all the units, departments and wards in the facility and advised health workers to carry out your duties professionally and diligently to attract patronage.
Also speaking, another SSA on Health Monitoring, Dr. Patrick Onwuachi, advised the management and staff of the hospital to be up and doing and reminded about the Patient Centred Care proclaimed by the Governor which entailed that adequate attention must be given to the patient.

For his part Dr. Kingsley Amaihunwa, who spoke further on the Patient Centred Care, emphasized the need for health workers to show love and compassion to patients and their family members as a first step to giving them hope of recovery.
He told them that Health Insurance was the way to go and that only effective and quality healthcare service would encourage the people to key into the scheme.

The Health facilities visited were; Primary Health Centre, Ellu, Government Hospital, Ofagbe, Primary Health Centre, Ovrode, General Hospital, Ozoro, Primary Health Centre 3 Ozoro, Primary Health Centre, Owhelogbo, Government Hospital, Owhelogbo and Primary Health Centre, Ofagbe.
