DTHA PASSES 2020 APPROPRIATION BILL OF N395.4bn

Delta State House of Assembly has passed the Delta State Appropriation Bill 2020 with an increment of six point two billion naira, bringing the total to N395.4bn as against the initial sum of N389.2bn presented to the House by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.


The passage followed the consideration of the Honourable Erhiateke Ibori-Sueonu led Finance and Appropriation Committee report on the bill by the Committee of Supply, Chaired by the Speaker,

Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori during Wednesday’s plenary of the House.
The Appropriation Bill was read the third time and passed following a motion by the Majority Leader, Tim Owhefere, which was unanimously adopted.


The Speaker, Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori said the House thoroughly scrutinised the recurrent and capital expenditures which were put at N172.1bn and N223.3bn .


He thanked members for the passage of the Appropriation Bill from the first reading, saying that the timely presentation and passage of the bill would enable government commence early implementation.


Also at plenary the House received the report of the Joint House Committee on Rules, Business, Legal and Judicial Matters and the Special Committee on a Bill on the Delta State Governor and Deputy Governor Pension Rights and Other Benefits Amendment Bill.

 
The report was presented by the Chairman House Committee on Rules, Business, Legal and Judicial Matters, Honourable Charles Oniyere, after which it was received for further consideration through a motion by the Majority Leader, Hon Tim Owhefere seconded by the Deputy Chief Whip, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata.


The House has adjourned sitting to Tuesday next week.
