The lingering leadership crisis rocking Olomo community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta state has finally been resolved by the Delta State Government.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor, brokered peace between the two warring quarters in the communities, Ogbode and Osoro, at a meeting with delegates from both parties held at the Government House Annex, Warri.

Chief Uzor urged the people to sheathe their swords and maintain peace which he said was necessary for meaningful development of any community, stressing that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was irrevocably committed to ensuring peace and security in the state.

After patiently listening to the submissions of delegates from both sides, Chief Uzor directed that Mr. Oyibo Sheriff from Ososo quarters should remain the President-General of the community, while Engineer Ufuoma Akpeh from Ogbode quarters, whose tenure had elapsed should relinquish the position.

The Special Adviser said the decision was based on the principle of rotation of the office of President-General of the community between the two quarters and urged Engineer Akpeh to officially and formally hand over to Mr. Sheriff from Ososo quarters, having completed his term of four years.

He also maintained that Mr. Moses Adazor should remain the Youth Leader till 2021 having assumed office in September 2018, and advised the President-General to be honest, transparent and carry everyone along in piloting the affairs of the community.

In an interview, the former President-General, Engineer Akpeh, commended Chief Uzor for his intervention, assuring that he would abide by the resolutions in the interest of peace.

For his part, the new President-General, Mr. Sheriff appreciated the Special Adviser for resolving the leadership crisis that had set the community back, saying that there was no victor, no vanquished.
He promised to carry everyone along in the scheme of things and solicited the cooperation and support of all to achieve set goals.

Others who spoke, including the Secretary, Olomu Kingdom Traditional Council, Chief Ewenede John Akarua, expressed joy over the peaceful resolution of the leadership crisis and advised both parties to be united and work together, as the development of Olomo community was a collective responsibility.
