Delta state government has said it will continue to involve other political parties in the governance of the state.

The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta state, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, stated this on Wednesday in Asaba when a delegation of the Inter Party Advisory Council, led by the National President, Chief Peter Ame, visited him.

Honourable Solomon said political parties other than the one in power at any level of governance could do a lot to add value to the lives of the people, noting that their members were not strangers in the state and would not work against the government.

The Senior Political Adviser said the government of Delta state believed that political parties were critical stakeholders and would continue to expand the scope of their participation in running the affairs of the state.

He told the IPAC delegation that his office was putting together a summit to discuss the need for synergy between a ruling political party and opposition political parties in a democracy and expressed the hope that the summit would produce a paper that would improve relations between the two parties at all levels of governance.

Honourable Solomon urged IPAC at the National level to ensure that Friday’s election of officers for its Delta state chapter was free and fair, advocating post election behavioural change from the present narrative of the winner running down the loser to that of being magnanimous in victory.
The Senior Political Adviser said the Okowa administration believed in equity, fairness and justice in all its dealings, which informed the focus of government on achieving a Stronger Delta and pledged greater collaboration between the state government and IPAC.

The National President of IPAC, Chief Peter Ame, had earlier commended the state government for its inclusiveness policy, which had given opposition political parties the opportunity to contribute to governance.
He said they were in Asaba to conduct election of officers for the state chapter of the Council and assured that the exercise would be guided by international best practices.
