Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has called on Corporate Organizations in the state to set aside part of their resources for the improvement of healthcare facilities in their host communities.

Dr. Nwoko made the call after a tour of the departments, wards and units of the Central hospital, Sapele.

The SSA commended the management and staff of the hospital for their dedication to duty, foresight and prudent management of resources, which he noted had enabled it to record impressive results.

He was particularly happy that the management of the Centre was able to use their internally generated revenue to procure two generators with which they had solved their power supply problem to be able to operate day and night uninterrupted, which had accounted for the high number of enrollees of the Contributory Health Scheme in the Centre.

Dr. Nwoko observed thst there were ongoing DESOPADEC projects in the hospital and another project executed by Chevron/Agip Joint Venture and called on other health facilities to attract the support of corporate organization operating in their domains to assist in providing some of the facilities

The SSA assured the Chief Medical Director, the management and staff of the hospital of his cooperation to enable the Centre to do more in the provision of efficient, quality, accessible and affordable healthcare delivery service.

For his part, Dr Patrick Onwuachi, also SSA on Health Monitoring, commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the transformation recorded in the health sector, in keeping to his campaign promise.

The monitoring team had earlier visited Ogharafe 1 and 2 PHC, PHCs at IJomi, and Mosogar, and also the Cottage Hospital, Mosogar, where Dr. Nwoko admonished staff to redouble efforts to put the facilities under them into optimal use.
