The Special Adviser to the Governor of Delta state on Project Implementation and Evaluation, Honourable Prince Johnson Erijo, on Thursday in Asaba held an inaugural meeting with Executive Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor on Project Monitoring to strategize on how to effectively and efficiently deliver on the mandate of his office.
Honourable Erijo said the team, which he described as the watchdog of the Okowa administration on Project Implementation, was set to deliver on its mandate and urged members of the team to brace up.
He told his colleagues that the task ahead was enormous, stressing that their mission was to ensure that all projects were delivered according to specifications and on schedule, in line with the legacies of excellence and perfection for a Stronger Delta.
The Special Adviser urged contractors and contract awarding Ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state to be up and doing in order not to be caught napping, as the team would be thorough and unrelenting in the discharge of its duties.
Honourable Erijo maintained that the era of cutting corners in project execution was over, emphasising that the ultimate goal of government was to give Deltans value for their money.
On the extension of retention for road contractors in the state from one year to two years by the state government, the Special Adviser said it was a welcome development because many road projects were known to have failed within the first year of their delivery.
He said the measure would not affect the operations of the Project Monitoring team because it was all about achieving the same goal of ensuring standards in project delivery.
At the end of the meeting, Honourable Erijo led members of the team on a familiarisation tour of the Project Implementation and Evaluation Office.
