Delta state government will soon commence the recycling of waste to wealth.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Chris Onogba, made this known when he visited the site of the incinerator being installed off the Ibusa – Ogwashi Uku road to inspect the newly delivered equipment to the site.

Onogba said government was committed to making the project a reality to be able to convert the large volume of waste generated in Asaba to resources that would add value to the state’s economy.

He noted that the project had been on since 2013, and expressed optimism that with the delivery of the new equipment the stage was set for the completion of the project.

The Environment Commissioner urged the contractor to put in more effort towards completing the installation so that the project could be commissioned and put to use in the shortest possible time.

The incinerator would be fed with waste from the government approved dump site on the Ibusa – Ogwashi Uku road and is expected to recycle 1000 tonnes of waste daily.
