Delta State commissioner for Trade and Investment, Honourable Chika Ossai, has directed all Area officers of the ministry to immediately reflect the ministry,s new nomenclature on their sign posts.
Honourable Chika Ossai gave the directive on Monday in Asaba at a meeting with the Area Officers to educate them on the planned recertification of cooperative societies billed to commence on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
The Commissioner said any Area Office still bearing Ministry of Commerce and Industry on its sign post by 10th November would be sanctioned.
He urged them to take the recertification exercise seriously and warned that any officer involved in any shoddy deal would face the wrath of the law.
The Trade and Investment Commissioner said the Okowa administration was prepared to partner with cooperative societies in the state and would want to ascertain the viability of each of the societies.
He urged them to do every thing possible to ensure that the three month recertification exercise was successful.
Honourable Chika Ossai pointed out that the recertification exercise would not affect the registration of new cooperative society.
He frowned at the unkept nature of some of the Area Offices and urged the officers concerned to change the narrative.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr Ebikpade Aloba, urged all cooperative societies in the state to cooperate with the officers during the recertification exercise to enable it succeed.
He warned that any Officer who certified an unviable cooperative society would have himself or herself to blame, adding that any society that failed to participate in the exercise would not have any dealing with the Delta state government.
