In a bid to strengthen the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta state ahead of the 2023 election, the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta state, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, on Monday inaugurated ward liaison officers for Delta north senatorial district.
Honourable Solomon, on the occasion , said with the 2019 elections over it had become imperative to strengthen the party for greater exploits, especially with the Stronger Delta vision of the Okowa administration.
He said the ward liaison officers were chosen based on their integrity and relevance in the system, adding that they should adequately represent the party at the ward level and work as agents of unification and cohesion in order to move the party forward.
The Senior POLAD charged them to monitor the political conduct of appointees of the state government, ensure that committed party faithful are assisted when in need and supervise projects in their wards.
Honourable Solomon said the ward liaison officers should submit monthly reports to the Office of the Senior Political Adviser, through their coordinators, to keep the Governor and the leadership of the party abreast of happenings at the ward level.
While reminding the liaison officers of their key role in the system, the Senior POLAD said they must live above board to be able to command the authority and respect needed for them to succeed.
Six persons, including Woman and Youth leaders, were appointed from each of the 98 wards in Delta north, bringing the total to 588.
