DTHA SPECIAL DUTIES C’TTEE PROMISES STRENGTHENING OF GOVT INSTITUTIONS

Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Special Duties has promised to strengthen government institutions under its supervision for optimum performance.


The Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Honourable Solomon Ighrakpata, made the promise during the inaugural meeting of the committee at the Assembly Complex in Asaba.


Honourable Ighrakpata flanked by some other members of the Committee, including Honorables Fred Martins, Pullah Ekpotuayerin and  Moses Anaughe, said the committee would be diligent in its oversight functions as enshrined in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.


The Lawmaker, who represents the Uvwie Constituency in the House, stated that the state government required strong institutions to achieve its Stronger Delta vision. 


Honourable Ighrakpata maintained that despite the achievements of the present administration in the state under the leadership of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, a lot still needed to be done to meet the expectations of Deltans.


He promised adequate appropriation of funds to Ministries, Departments and Agencies under the oversight supervision of the committee as well as close monitoring to ensure proper utilization of the appropriated funds.


Highlighting the great impact of the state government’s Job and Wealth Creation Programme, Honourable Ighrakpata assured that the committee would help the administration to consolidate the success of the programme..


The Lawmaker appealed for the commitments of members of the committee and the secretariat to achieving set goals.


In their remarks, Honorables Fred Martins, Pullah Ekpotuayerin and  Moses Anaughe, commended the Committee Chairman for his leadership qualities and pledged their support.


Earlier the Clerk of the Committee, Miss Judith Nwaka, briefed members on the key functions of the committee, expectations and the MDAs under its supervision.
