The Chairman of Nigeria Red Cross, Anambra State chapter, Professor Peter Emeka Katchy, has advocated the introduction of a special programme for children, especially the vulnerable, by the Federal and State Governments.

Speaking to newsmen after being conferred with a prestigious award of excellence by members of PCRC Central Police Station, Onitsha, on the occasion of his birthday, Professor Katchy stressed the need for adequate care for children to ensure they turned out to be responsible members of society.

The Chairman appealed to wealthy Nigerians and corporate organisations in the country to invest part of their resources in child development programmes, assuring that the society would be better for it.

He thanked the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, and his wife, Ebele, for their interest in the welfare of vulnerable children in the State.
