The Director General, Delta State Bureau of Orientation, Barrister Eugene Uzum, has enjoined displaced flood victims in camps across the state to live in harmony.
Barrister Uzum gave the advice when the sensitization team of the bureau visited the camp at Ogbe Afor Primary School in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area of the state.
He urged the displaced persons to always obey the camp rules, adding that they should shun acts that could make life more difficult for them and the camp officials.
The DG, who spoke through the Director of Orientation and Functioning Permanent Secretary in the Bureau, Mrs Stella Macaulay, advised the displaced persons not to be weighed down by their present situation, saying that it should be seen as a temporary set back which would not last for long.
He informed them that the state government had put necessary machinery in place to ensure that they were adequately catered for while in camp, stressing, however, that they should reciprocate the good intentions of government by displaying good conducts throughout their stay in camp.
Responding on behalf of the displaced persons, Mrs Angela Anochili, thanked the state government for the prompt provision of succour for the displaced persons in camp, promising that they would be of good behaviour in camp and remain appreciative of the Okowa administration after camping.
She appealed to the state government, public spirited individuals and organisations to supply them more mattresses, buckets, waste disposal bins among other items, to make life more meaningful to them in camp.
Over 1,900 persons displaced by flood in mainly the Oko communities, in Oshimili south local government area of Delta state are in the Ogbe Afor Primary School camp.
