The Paramount Ruler of Obotebe Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Emmanuel Warewini Arikawei, popularly called King Etopo, has pledged to donate his monthly entitlements as a King towards the building of a befitting Palace and development of Obotebe Kingdom.

King Etopo, joined by his counterpart from Ogbolubiri, Pere Johnbull Polokowei, made the pledge in Obotebe Town, headquarters of Obotebe Kingdom during the conferment of  Chieftaincy titles on some sons and daughters of the Kingdom.

He said his ascension to the throne of Obotebe Kingdom was not for the pecuniary gains, but to raise the Obotebe Kingdom to one of the fastest growing communities in the area, using his wealth of experience and connections.

The Monarch said Obotebe Kingdom must be given its pride of place, stressing that the perennial flooding of the community had became endemic.

King Arikawei said heavy duty dredging  equipment would be deployed to open up the canals and link the community with the neighboring communities with a view to fast tracking development, as well as ease the pains of perennial flooding.

The traditional ruler commended government’s efforts to curb the menace of flooding and its attendant challenges, urging all hands to be on deck as government could hardly do it alone.

The Obotebe monarch, while conferring the chieftaincy titles on the beneficiaries, warned against misconduct and vices capable of bringing the Kingdom to  disrepute and charged them to be  worthy ambassadors of the Kingdom.

Those honoured with chieftaincy titles include, Princess Beauty Perekeme, Barrister Bekere Fuludu,  Samuel Eneghan, Orlando Ayebide and Johnson Sebiribo
