The commissioner representing Ndokwa east on the Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Mr Ikechukwu Akozor says the commission will continue to attract projects that will meet the needs of the people at the grassroots.

He stated this when he visited the traditional ruler of Aboh kingdom, Obi Imegwu the second and his council of chiefs to inform them about his assumption of duty as DESOPADEC Commissioner.

Mr Akozor said DESOPADEC as presently constituted, would continue to maintain the standard set by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in the area of roads and other infrastructure.

He said the citing of projects in any part of Ndokwa east would be subject to the availability of funds as the Commission  would not want to abandon any project.

The DESOPADEC commissioner commended the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for finding him worthy to serve and thanked his political leaders Chief Goodwin Obielum and Honourable Chika Ossai for their support which facilitated his appointment.

Mr Akozor, who also commended the Aboh monarch and the council of chiefs for their support for the Okowa administration, noted that the roles of traditional rulers were key to the smooth and peaceful running of government.

He pointed out that the expectations of the people were high as every community desired good roads, infrastructure and substantial government presence.

Mr Akozor appealed to communities in Ndokwa east to be patient with the current DESOPADEC Board as projects were being awarded in batches.

The Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Honourable Chika Ossai, who accompanied the DESOPADEC Commissioner to the palace, appealed to members of the PDP in Ndokwa east to continue to work as a family.

Honourable Chika Ossai, who said Governor Okowa placed high premium on the welfare of traditional rulers in the state, urged the Aboh monarch to always ensure the reign of peace in his domain.

He congratulated Mr Akozor on his appointment and advised him to always relate with the people at the grassroot to be able to feel their needs and challenges, adding that most projects failed because they did not seem to serve the needs of the people.

The Aboh monarch, Obi Imegwu the second, lauded the State Governor for appointing Ndokwa east sons and daughters into political offices.

Obi Imegwu, who spoke through the palace spokesman, Chief Amaechi Chima, thanked Chief Godswill Obielum and Honourable Chika Ossai for facilitating the appointment of Akozor as a DESOPADEC Commissioner.

A reception was later held in honour of Mr Akozor by the PDP family in Aboh.
