Delta State Governor Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged his main rival in the March 9 gubernatorial election, Chief Great Ogboru of the All Progressive Congress (APC), to join his administration in building a stronger state.
He made the call on Friday at an inter-denominational thanksgiving service shortly after the reaffirmation of his electoral victory by the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, which sat in Asaba.
The Governor said the time had come for Ogboru to stop fighting and partner with him to do the best that could be done to build Delta State for the good of the people.
Okowa solicited the cooperation of the opposition, saying that Delta State was for all Deltans irrespective of political affiliation.
He thanked his supporters and indeed all Deltans for their prayer and urged them not to relent as the State needed to hold firmly to the Lord to remain peaceful and united.
Earlier in his sermon, the Government House Chaplain, Venerable Charles Osemenem, said God ruled the affairs of men and should be acknowledged in all ways because He never failed.
Wife of the Governor, Dame Edith Okowa, the Deputy Governor, Mr Kingsley Otuaro; Senator James Manager, House of Representatives member, Ndudi Elumelu; Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborovweri, were among dignitaries at the service.
