The political power house of the Delta State Government, Office of the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, has continued to play host to support groups that pitched tent with the state PDP for the prosecution of the Okowa 2019 electioneering campaign.
Among them are Ekwueme Vanguard and Team Smart for Okowa.
Addressing members of Ekwueme Vanguard led by its National Leader, Engineer Smart Meka, the Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, reassured that Governor Okowa would remember all that genuinely worked for his success at the polls.
Honourable Solomon expressed delight that the group was still waxing strong in its support for the Okowa administration, and urged it to be focused and firm in order to remain relevant to the system.
The Senior Political Adviser noted that Governor Okowa still needed the support and prayers of Delta so that God would strengthen and endow him with the wisdom to pursue his Stronger Delta vision to a logical conclusion.
The leader of the group, Engineer Smart Meka, said they pitched tent with Okowa since 2011 when he declared intention to contest for the Delta north seat, pointing out that the group was Delta north based with structures in all the wards in the senatorial district.
Engineer Meka said Ekwueme Vanguard participated actively in the 2019 electioneering campaigns because it believed in Senator Okowa and his capabilities and thanked the Senior Political Adviser for leading a formidable campaign team that delivered on its mandate.
For Team Smart for Okowa, the Senior Political Adviser described the group as a dependable ally in the advancement of the SMART Agenda of the Okowa administration, stressing that the sacrifices made by the Team during the campaigns without asking for anything in return were quite commendable.
Honourable Solomon thanked the group for its reorientation campaign in schools across the state to stem the wave of cultism and drug abuse, and for its educational programme, saying that they were in tandem with the vision of the Okowa administration.
He advised the Team to continue to partner with government to ensure the attainment of a Stronger Delta, where equity, justice, fairness, peace and unity would be bequeathed to all Deltans irrespective of tribe, religion or political interest.
The Director General of Team Smart for Okowa, Sunday Orishedere, said the group was inspired to work with the PDP by the need for equity, fairness and justice in the polity, particularly as it concerned the governorship seat of the state which Delta north had yet to occupy before the election.
Orishedere praised the Okowa administration for its people oriented policies and programmes, pledging continued support for government in the quest for a Stronger Delta
