DTSG PLEDGES GREATER COMMITMENT TO INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT OF RIVERINE COMMUNITIES

Executive Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, Honourable Andrew Igban has pledged the commitment of the Delta State Government to the infrastructural development of riverine communities in the state.


Speaking while on working visits to Madangho, Aja-Udaibo, Ogidigben, Deghele and Bateren communities in Warri South West local government area following complaints of deplorable condition of internal roads in the localities, Igban assured that the government was not relenting in connecting more coastal communities in the state by roads.


Accompanied by a team of engineers, the Executive Assistant stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had shown genuine commitment to putting in place  road infrastructure in riverine communities of the state.


Honourable Igban assured Madangho, Aja-Udaibo, Ogidigben, Deghele and Bateren communities that the relevant authorities would be reached over the deplorable condition of internal roads in the areas, stating that his visit was for an in the spot assessment of the roads.


He stressed the need for communities across the state to be at peace with one another and be committed to unity of purpose to ensure accelerated development.


Honourable Igban said Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was deeply concerned about the well being of Deltans and was taking necessary steps to improve the quality of life of the people.


The Executive Assistant who addressed the Youth Leaders of the five communities visited, urged them to continue to mobilize support for state government in its efforts to attracting more dividends of democracy to the people.


The Youth chairman Aja-udaibo community, Mr Amos Daje, National Secretary Ugborodo Youth Council, Mr Tsemude Daje, Youth chairman Madangho community, Samuel Donju and Youth chairman, Deghele Community, Collins Golly who spoke on behalf of the cimmunities, commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for the road infrastructure in riverine communities of the state and urged him not to relent.


They said the communities were major oil producers and stressed the need for government to address their basic infrastructural needs.


While pledging their continued support for the Okowa administration, the people commended the Executive Assistant for the visit and appealed to him to make such visits regular to keep track with the progress and challenges of the communities.
