Political parties in Delta state have been urged to work with unity of purpose in order not to lose focus on the benefits of the democratic process.

The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta state, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, who made the appeal when he met with chairmen of registered political parties in the state, said the parties must de-emphasize groupings or associations that tended to cause division.

He, however, reminded the party chairmen that the Inter Party Advisory Council, IPAC, was a statutory body to which they must all belong, but clarified that welfare issues would be on political party basis, advising IPAC to remain non partisan and not interfere with internal affairs of the political parties.

Honourable Solomon said he was holding the Senior POLAD position on trust and would not do anything that would undermine the integrity of the office or betray the confidence reposed in him by the Governor.

The Senior Political Adviser assured the party chairmen of the readiness of government to partner with them, pointing out the need to sanitize the system to make it beneficial to all critical stakeholders in the democratic process.

He said the Office of the Senior POLAD would soon embark on the verification of political parties in the state for the purpose of authentication, and would do so without fear or favour to ensure things were done right.

Honourable Solomon told the party chairmen that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was a product of a refined system and believed in appropriate reward for hardwork, assuring them that for their massive support they would benefit from the system, but not necessarily through appointment.
