DTSG TO RECERTIFY COOPERATIVE SOCIETIES FOR MORE EFFECTIVE OPERATIONS – Chika Ossai

Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Honourable Chika Ossai has said his Ministry is set to embark on recertification of cooperative societies in the state.


Honourable Chika Ossai disclosed this on Monday when a delegation of the Delta Cooperative Federation, DCF, paid him a courtesy visit.


The Commissioner said the recertification of cooperative societies would enable the Ministry to ascertain the number of functional cooperatives society in the state that are functional.


He urged members of the Cooperative Federation to prevail on the societies to key into the recertification exercise to enhance their operations.

The Commissioner said with the recertification government would be able to set up a data base for the cooperative societies in the state.


He added that the Okowa administration would continue to partner with cooperative societies in the state and create the enabling environment for them to operate.


Chika Ossai explained that the cooperative societies did not benefit from the state government’s revolving loan scheme because they did not present a common front and not because government did not want them to.


The president, Delta Cooperative Federation, Mr Larry Onyeche, said the visit was to congratulate Honourable Chika Ossai on his appointment and to  inform him about the agitation for a Bureau for Cooperative Societies in Delta state. 


Mr Onyeche said the Cooperative Federation would support the recertification program and urged the cooperative societies to key into the project.
