CHIKA OSSAI SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH ORGANIZED PRIVATE SECTOR, ASSURES OF EASE OF DOING BUSINESS

Delta State Government has affirmed its resolve to continue to strengthen the already existing collaboration between the state and the organised private sector in its efforts at ensuring accelerated economic growth of the state.

The State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief Chika Ossai, who gave the assurance while playing host to members of the Delta State Association of Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (DACCIMA) described the organised private sector as a critical segment in achieving the “Stronger Delta” vision of the Okowa administration.

The Commissioner said the state government was already putting measures in place that would fastrack the Ease of Doing Business in the state and attract both local and Foreign Direct Investors (FDI).

Part of the measures, he said, was the ban on illegal collection of haulage fees and other unauthorised levies as well as ensuring the sustainability of the ongoing relative peace, security of lives and property in the state.

Chika Ossai called on members of the association to continue to partner with the state government in driving the economic policies of the Okowa administration by providing useful suggestions that would take the state to greater economic heights.

He appealed to the organised private sector to continue to synergise with government on how to curtail some of the challenges affecting business in the state.

Earlier, the President of the Association, Chief Emma Avworo, told the Commissioner that they were in his office to felicitate with him on his appointment as Commissioner in the Ministry.

The DACCIMA President used the forum to brief the Commissioner on some of the challenges confronting business owners in the state, including the lingering issue of multiple taxation and the menace of touts on the roads, which he said were affecting the ease of doing business.

While assuring the Commissioner of continued support, the DACCIMA Boss urged him to use his good offices to address the challenges.
