Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state has said the development of the state is a collective responsibility that should not be hindered by personal, ethnic, religious or political considerations.
The Governor stated this on Wednesday in Asaba when members of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers led by its Chairman and Obi of Owa, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor the second, visited him.
He said citizens of the state owed it a duty to contribute to its development and called on them to use the available opportunities to impact positively on the lives of the people.
Okowa assured that his administration would remain focused in pursuing programmes that would attract investors, adding that Delta was a peaceful state open to investment.
The Governor commended the traditional rulers for their contributions toward ensuring peace in the state, urging them to continue to take steps that would consolidate the prevailing peace,
He noted that there was so much love among the traditional rulers and wished that the political class would learn to show love to one another for the overall good of the state.
Okowa thanked the monarchs for the visit, and Deltans for their support, promising that his administration would do its best to take the state to enviable height within the next four years.
Earlier, Obi Efeizomor the second told the Governor that they were in Asaba to felicitate with him on his 60th birthday anniversary, which he said was a thing of joy to them and indeed all Deltans.
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a birthday gift to the Governor.
