The Senior Political Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Honourable Funkekeme Solomon, has felicitated with the people of the State, describing the past 28 years of Delta as a state as eventful and remarkable.
Honourable Solomon, who spoke in Asaba on Delta at 28, recalled what the State was like at creation, lacking in infrastructure and basic social amenities, with ethnic distrust at its pick.
He recounted the steps taken by successive administrations to engender peace and unity among Deltans on the premise that “we are one despite our ethnic diversity.”
Honourable Solomon paid tribute to past Administrators and Governors of the State and commended Deltans for believing in unity in diversity which had taken the State thus far.
The Senior Political Adviser particularly noted the efforts of the Okowa administration at peace building and infrastructural development, with the putting in place of strong institutions that would bring the needed development to all parts of the State.
He cited the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, the Warri/Effurun and Environs Development Agency, Delta State Security Trust Fund as such institutions meant to change the face of Delta to the envy of other States and even the international community.
Honourable Solomon said the Stronger Delta vision of the Okowa administration was instructive to ensuring equity, justice, fairness, peace and unity in all parts of the State, adding that the riverine coastal communities where development was thought to be impossible could now boast of development projects.
The Senior Political Adviser called on Deltans to remain supportive of the Okowa administration to guarantee more dividends of democracy to the people, urging them to celebrate because they had every reason to do so.
