He said government had realized that there was need to be equitable and fair in all its dealings as that would help to strengthen the bond of unity among the people.
The Governor said as a State, Deltans belonged to one family and should show love to one another if the envisaged Stronger Delta must be achieved, adding that everyone should be willing to contribute to the development and growth of the state.
He reminded government functionaries, especially political appointees, that they were in public office to serve the people and should do so genuinely to please God and not the Governor, as they needed to work hard to beat his first tenure record of achievement.
Okowa described 2019 as a year of restoration and prayed God to restore all the years that were lost to crises and unite the people to build a better and stronger Delta.
The Governor expressed confidence that the state would witness tremendous development in the next four years and commended traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youths for their roles in creating a peaceful environment for development to thrive.
Earlier in a sermon at the well-attended event, the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Delta State Chapter, Senior Apostle Sylvester Okorote, urged those in authority to shun rumour mongering to avoid costly mistakes.
Apostle Okorote said Delta State had enough reasons to thank God, noting that from creation God had sustained the State with peace.
